Dr. Anthony Fauci, the United States leading infectious disease expert, has officially been fully vaccinated. However, he has also said that he will not return to a more normal lifestyle. That includes going inside to dine at a restaurant, going to the moves or even attending a large inside house gathering.
Fauci said, “There are things, even if you’re vaccinated, that you’re not going to be able to do in society,” and he says that because of the safety of society.
Obviously COVID-19 has completely changed what our society looks like and has taken over 500,000 lives in America. However, I think it is important to start opening up and getting back to a more normal lifestyle, especially for those who are vaccinated. I am not completely disagreeing with Dr. Fauci because the majority of people have not been vaccinated and therefore should still be protected. In my opinion, however, people are getting tired of this life we are living; even though the vaccine is not fully developed or figured out just yet, the people who have received it should be able to slowly get back to their normal life.
“We are still at an unacceptably high baseline level,” Fauci said about the vaccine at a press briefing at The White House.
While I agree it is extremely early in the distribution of the coveted vaccine, it is safe to say that those vaccinated will not get super sick or die in the small chance they even contract the virus.
Overall, I and many others want to see the light at the end of the tunnel. It is encouraging to see vaccines get distributed to those who need it most, but I would be cheered up by seeing those who are vaccinated return to a more normal and regular life doing regular run-of-the-mill activities.
Businesses and restaurants have already been devastated by this virus, if people who are vaccinated want to go eat dinner inside they should be able to do that safely and with the health of others in mind. Dr. Fauci has been at the center of the United States’ response to the virus since the very beginning and has had an extremely difficult job to do. At the end of the day, I want to see improvement and watch things slowly reopen and return to what we once called “normal”.
