Because of stay-at-home orders, most Americans, including those in the DMV, have found themselves quarantined inside their homes. Americans can only go outside only for essential trips, like going to the grocery store, doctor or pharmacy.
For many of us, we are in the midst of our fourth week of staying inside, and it is easy to start daydreaming of where our ideal quarantine location would be if we could actually leave our homes. I would imagine that most people want to be in an overwater bungalow in the Bahamas, where they could soak up the sun, or in a Los Angeles Mansion with a basketball court and a swimming pool on the grounds. But not me. My quarantine dream is much more local and much less fancy.
Ever since I can remember, my father would take me to a small race track complex in West Virginia named Summit Point Motorsports Park. At Summit Point, my father’s friend races in an old Datsun 240z numbered 13 with a distinct pumpkin color. Of course, this would be my quarantine location. This place would be so cool, and I would be able to spend hours on track.
I would like a Koenigsegg Jesko (a concept supercar), an Acura Integra Type R (known as the best handling FWD car ever) and a Ford Mustang “Hoonicorn” (used in the Gymkhana YouTube video series). Each car has its own strengths and weaknesses for example, the track focused Jesko would not be as crazy fun as the Hoonicorn, and the Hoonicorn would not be as fast as the Jesko.
Although I would spend a ton of time outside on the track, I would need something for when the weather turned sour. I would first put a house with a large racing video game simulator. Additionally, I would need to choose at least three cars to use on the track when the weather was good for racing.
I would have endless fun ripping up the track, drifting and putting the cars through their paces; however, as it stands now, I am in my house racing virtually and wondering when I will be able to see my friends again. For exercise, I have been on the rowing machine and playing golf. Overall, it is boring for the most part, but quarantine should be a time where we are thankful for our good health, and we should try to learn something new while spending just a little bit of time daydreaming about where we’d rather be and where we may go once we are free once again.

Enjoyed reading your article. I know that race track! I have a friend who goes up there all the time. Glad you are able to do a little virtual racing as well as get outside to golf. Hopefully we’ll all be getting out soon!
